IDS provided steel detailing for the University Center Indoor Athletic Complex in Rock Hill, SC, which houses multiple basketball courts that can be converted into larger and smaller playing areas. Area A is an arena with two basketball courts which can be converted to a single main court. The bleachers are also adjustable to accommodate spectators. Areas B and C, which provide eight more basketball courts, are contained in a pre-engineered larger building that required extensive coordination. Outside the PEMB, IDS’s steel-detailing scope consisted of structural steel columns, beams, rakers made mostly of wide-flange members, HSS canopy frames, and two stair frames—one of which was a monumental stair. IDS utilized Tekla Structures for this project.
